Its objective is to ensure that importing countries: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Are <strong>fully informed about the hazards<\/strong> of the chemicals they receive. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Have the opportunity to <strong>accept or reject<\/strong> their import under safe conditions. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>This Regulation implements within the EU the commitments arising from the <strong>Rotterdam Convention<\/strong>, an international treaty aimed at protecting human health and the environment from certain hazardous chemicals in international trade. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Which products does the PIC Regulation apply to?<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n<p>The Regulation applies to <strong>substances, mixtures and articles<\/strong> containing substances listed in Annex I, mainly <strong>hazardous pesticides and chemicals that are banned or severely restricted in the EU<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p>Overall, it covers more than 50 substances and groups of substances classified as hazardous to human health or the environment. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong> Obligations for exporters<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n<p>EU companies wishing to export PIC-listed chemicals from the EU to third countries must: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Notify the export in advance<\/strong> via the <a href=\"https:\/\/idp.echa.europa.eu\/ui\/login\">ePIC<\/a> platform. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In many cases, obtain the <strong>explicit consent of the importing country<\/strong> before the export can take place. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>This process requires careful planning and compliance with specific deadlines. Failure to submit notifications in due time may result in logistical delays, export blockages, or even penalties for non-compliance.  <\/p>\n\n<p>In addition, exporters must <strong>annually report the quantities exported<\/strong> during the previous year, together with details of the recipients in third countries.
