{"id":14061,"date":"2025-09-18T11:12:59","date_gmt":"2025-09-18T09:12:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/servireach.com\/?p=14061"},"modified":"2025-09-18T11:23:40","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T09:23:40","slug":"harmonised-notification-to-poison-centres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/servireach.com\/en\/blog\/harmonised-notification-to-poison-centres\/","title":{"rendered":"Harmonised Notification to Poison Centres: What Every Company Needs to Know"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If your company manufactures, imports or places hazardous mixtures on the European market, you must be aware of a key obligation under the <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/?uri=CELEX%3A02008R1272-20250201\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272\/2008<\/a>: the harmonised notification to poison centres, established in Article 45 and detailed in Annex VIII.<\/p>\n<p>This notification ensures that the poison centres of EU Member States have the necessary information to act effectively in case of an emergency, such as accidental poisoning or unintended exposure to chemicals.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Which products must be notified, and who is responsible?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>All hazardous mixtures classified for health hazards or physical hazards must be notified.<\/p>\n<p>The obligation applies to any company responsible for placing the mixture on the EU market\u2014whether manufacturer, importer or distributor\u2014and covers all countries where the product is made available.<\/p>\n<p>Notification is not required if the mixture:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is not classified as hazardous.<\/li>\n<li>Is classified only for environmental hazards.<\/li>\n<li>Is a gas under pressure or an explosive.<\/li>\n<li>Falls under sector-specific legislation (cosmetics, medicinal products, food or feed).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, many companies choose to notify voluntarily, as a matter of responsibility or to facilitate medical response in case of exposure.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What information must the notification include?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Notifications must be submitted through the <strong>ECHA Submission Portal<\/strong> and contain, at a minimum, the following key elements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identification of the product and the responsible company.<\/li>\n<li>Classification and associated hazards.<\/li>\n<li>Detailed information on composition.<\/li>\n<li>Toxicological data, intended uses and product type.<\/li>\n<li>The UFI (Unique Formula Identifier).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Keep in mind: if you make changes to the composition, product type or classification of the mixture, the notification must be updated before the product is placed back on the market.
